Shaykh Waseem Ahmed

Shaykh Waseem started his search for knowledge by studying Arabic in the UK before leaving for Damascus in Ramadan 2005 to study at the Abu Nur institute. During his time in Syria he concentrated on Arabic grammar and morphology but also began studying other subjects including Fiqh, Tajweed and Tafseer.

Shaykh Waseem studied privately under teachers completing works in Aqidah (Doctrine), Fiqh, Tasawwuf (Spirituality), Arabic Grammar, Rhetoric and other subjects. His teachers were Shaykh Ahmad Al-Khateeb, a graduate of the Fath institute and faculty of Shari’ah and a Friday speaker in the mosques of Damascus as well as a teacher in various Islamic institutes and Shaykh Anas Al-Sharfaawi, a research scholar and graduate of the Fath institute, and currently a university lecturer in Indonesia.

In 2008 Shaykh Waseem attended the accelerated programme at the Dawli Institute for Arabic and Islamic sciences. The Shaykh studied a traditional curriculum and graduated in 2012. He met and studied with some of the scholars of Damascus including, Shaykh Maazin Bakeer, Shaykh Adnan Darwish and Shaykh Rashaad Al-Shams, completing the study of the famous hanafi work Al-Ikhtiyaar of Imam Abdullah Al-Mawsili in its entirety and most of Al-Ashbaah wa al-Nazha’ir of ibn Nujaym.

Shaykh Waseem also attended all the lessons and gatherings of Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi, studying many texts under him including; the Shama’il of Imam Tirmidhi, the Principles of Tasawwuf of Imam Ahmad Zarrooq, Adab Al-Suhbah of Imam Al-Sha’raani, Al-Sanusiyyah, parts of Al-Risalah Al-Qushayriyyah and Iyha Uloom Al-Deen. He also readings of some of the canonical hadith books. He was instructed to return to the UK in 2012 and has been delivering lectures and courses all over the UK since his return, including his home city of Sheffield and Al-Huda Zawiya in Dewsbury. Shaykh Waseem is married and has two children masha Allah. He resides in Sheffield.
